Technical definition

standard charging time of a battery

The standard charging time of a battery is the approximate time it needs to be fully charged using the charger recommended by the manufacturer and under normal usage conditions. It does not mean the fastest possible charge, but rather the usual and safe charging process to avoid damaging the battery or reducing its lifespan. This time mainly depends on the battery capacity (Wh or Ah) and the charger power. For example, a large battery will take longer to charge than a smaller one if both use the same charger. Other factors such as temperature, battery condition, and whether the system reduces charging speed as it approaches 100% also have an influence. That is why when a manufacturer indicates “charging time: 5–6 hours”, it usually refers to the standard charging time using the original charger suitable for that battery.
