Technical definition
IP54
The IP54 rating is a level of protection that indicates how resistant a device is against dust and water. The letters IP stand for “Ingress Protection,” and the two numbers indicate the degree of protection. The first number, 5, means the device is protected against dust in an amount that does not affect normal operation. The second number, 4, means protection against water splashes from any direction. This means an electric scooter, battery, or any device with IP54 certification can handle dust and light rain, but it is not designed for immersion or heavy water exposure.
